I’m about to make a confession that many people with a sweet tooth may find shocking. I am not a chocolate fan. Hold up. Don’t go. I like chocolate. But as far as desserts go, it is never my first choice. I never order chocolate cake or chocolate ice cream. I love coconut or pistachio or caramel. Or about 8 other flavors BEFORE chocolate!
However, I am surrounded by chocolate lovers! As you know, I’m a baker. So lucky for them, while it may not be my flavor of choice, I love using it to bake. There is something so decadent and almost sexy about melting pieces of chocolate to create a smooth and velvety liquid.
Here’s my go-to basic brownie recipe that will definitely be made during our season of love! Best part about it is that you can customize it by adding a creamy peanut butter topping or pieces of other candy. Enjoy!
4 oz unsweetened chocolate
1.5 sticks of unsalted butter
1.5 cups of sugar
3/4 cup flour
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)
Preheat oven 350 degrees. Melt chocolate and butter on the stove. Remove from heat. Add sugar, mixing it in batches. Add vanilla and salt. Gently stir in eggs one at a time. Add flour, adding a little at a time. Stir in chocolate chips. Pour batter into a greased pan. Bake for 30 minutes. Devour!
