What is your Halloween costume selection style?  Do you find yourself at Party City the day before your little one’s school Halloween parade searching for anything in the right size?  That’ll have to do!  Or are you a parent who is sitting on the beach during the summer already thinking about a unique costume you can make along with a detailed timeline of each element you need to hand sew?  Type A much?!  I have to admit,  I fall into the latter group.  Why must I drive myself crazy thinking of something I can make that is unique when truth be told, my baby girl would be more than happy to dress up as a Disney princess.  I keep telling myself I only have a few more Halloweens where I actually have a say in her costume choice.  And I am going to enjoy it!

Maybe it’s my past life in advertising, but I have always found logos and brand mascots/spokespeople interesting.  There is something intriguing to me about seeing the evolution of logos or how companies modernize iconic figures.  So it is no wonder all of my Halloween ideas come from this genre.

Just like many moms, Starbucks has become my bloodline!  So last year,  my little one proudly sported the iconic green circular logo and was the cutest Frappuccino (if I may say so myself!). Her costume cost me less than $15 to make as it is completely made of felt,  a knitting hoop, upholstery remnants and a paper towel roll!  It was a fun project for me and even more fun to see baby girl run around with a whipped cream headband!image

Whether you you buy a costume off the rack or spend hours at the sewing machine,  all of our little ghouls, witches, princesses, firefighters and Frappuccinos are sure to look devilishly adorable!

Stay tuned on what my daughter will be this year!  10 more days!  I will give you a hint….another iconic mascot!

      Hi Kelly,
I made the headband from a paper towel roll, felt and a paper plate. I cut the paper player into an oval shape and wrapped it in white felt. I then took a paper towel roll and wrapped it with green felt. Hot glued everything to a headband. Then made the whipped cream accents from more felt circles that were folded. Hope this helps and thanks for reading!
