One of the greatest benefits of being a fitness instructor is seeing someone transform right before your eyes. I’ve been fortunate to have seen many people lose weight, build stamina or simply become more active. I’ve been brought to tears by past class goers telling me how much my class means to them. Little do they know that they’ve changed me as well and help me strive to continue to grow as an instructor.
Aside from this incredible perk of instructing, another wonderful inspiration is when current or past participants decide to begin their own journey teaching. Throughout the years, I’ve had various people from all different walks of life take the leap into fitness instructing and continue on to instruct and inspire others in their own classes. That’s what’s so wonderful about this job. It sparks something in people to want to go out and bring that fire to others.
I decided to go for my group fitness certification because my fitness mentor changed my life for the better. I was healthier and happier and I had an outlet to let loose and forget about work and budgets and planning and negotiating. She lit that fire inside of me and I wanted to share my passion with others. I didn’t realize I would also inspire others to want to teach.
So as two very special people go for their certification this weekend, I am thinking of them and the rest of my fitness family who have gone on to teach their own classes, inspiring others along the way.
