Fall is a great season to get crafty with your little ones! There are crafts with leaves, painting with apple halves, pumpkin carving and an endless list of creative play. For anyone who thinks they aren’t the arts ‘n craft type, fear not! It shouldn’t be a daunting task. After all, it should be a fun and easy family activity! One of my favorite things to do with my little lady is painting pumpkins. We always have brushes and paint on hand, so there is virtually no set up necessary. Most of the time, I just set out the paint and let her little hands at it! She has a great time and we end up with an extremely colorful little pumpkin. However, sometimes, it’s fun to do something a little more creative with the paint, yet just as easy.
After your little one has picked their perfect pumpkin, wrap tape around the girth of the pumpkin. This will serve as the guide for the “icing”. My little one picked pink paint for her icing (what a surprise for a 3 year old girl!). We then painted sprinkles in different colors on the icing. You can also put jewels or pom poms as “toppings”. We then painted the long stem with red paint for our cherry on top. After letting the paint dry, remove the tape.
My little one loved her pumpkin “cupcake”! Enjoy!
