You may hold my hand for a while, but you will hold my heart forever.
I am a hand holder. There is something very intimate about holding hands with someone you love. It symbolizes a united front, a team that can conquer the world together.
When my daughter started walking, I would hold her hand for guidance and support. Her little legs would be wobbly and unsteady and she would grip my hand when she would begin to stumble. As she got more confident, I would be the one holding her hand tightly so she wouldn’t get too far from me. Now it’s just a nice habit. I feel fortunate to have a child that likes to hold hands. Many of my friends’ kids don’t like to hold hands anymore. I am quietly dreading when that day comes.
They say the eyes are the windows to the soul. But I believe the hands can be much more expressive. You can talk with your hands. You can direct with them. You can feel and hold and move. It is with this in mind that I decided to document my everyday life with my little girl using our hands. We capture our little moments everyday, but focus on our hands. I look forward to continue this and see her little hands growing as we experience what may seem like mundane things. However to me, it’s life. Our life.
