I’ve always had a hard time ordering a drink. When I was younger, most of my friends would throw back a few beers at a party while I was either drinking cheap wine or nursing a vodka or rum drink. It’s not so different now. I still don’t drink beer, but I’ve graduated to better wine. I still like my vodka, though I can’t hold my own like I used to. I’m a fun drink person who likes girly drinks and likes experimenting in creating original cocktails. I would read blogs and books on different recipes and give them all a try, often using my friends as taste testers. Sometimes, the drinks would be complicated. Sometimes, the ingredients were so obscure. But I love the art of mixology!
Then in walked Rumchata® and changed my drink world forever. It rolled onto the scene back in 2009, but began its starring role in my life in 2013. Yes, I’ve tried the fancy martinis and even the pudding shots. But what I love about the creamy, cinnamon liquor is you can simply add it to coffee or chai tea or hot chocolate and call it a day. Especially during this time of year, Rumchata® is constantly on stock in our house!
So for anyone who loves warm festive drinks, here’s an easy recipe to try. It’s simple, dairy-free and light! Enjoy!
Rumchata® Vanilla Almond Steamer
2 C Almomd Milk (I prefer Califia Farms)
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 tsp agave or honey
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon (+ cinnamon stick)
1/8 tsp nutmeg
1/4 C Rumchata®
Combine all ingredients in a pan. Heat on stove on low heat until steamy and hot to the touch. Do not allow to boil as the almond milk will turn bitter. Serves 2.
