My 4 year old insisted on making a music video. Here is what I captured.
Here’s how this all came about!
When I think of my own childhood at my daughter’s age, it certainly did not include sending videos to my friends or watching YouTube. However, this is my 4 year old’s life! She loves sending and receiving videos from her friends through Mom’s phone. As us moms send these videos, we get a kick out of seeing how the girls interact with each other. Makes you fast forward to their teenage years and imagine what their interaction would be like by then!
Her favorite things to watch on YouTube are videos of other children singing or dancing. She will then imitate them. You may recall from a previous blog post that my little one has always been interested in the arts, so with each video she would watch, she would tell me she wanted to make a video of her own.
Then she saw Claire’s videos. For those not familiar, Claire Crosby is around my daughter’s age and has some outstanding music videos on YouTube! My daughter would tell me that she wanted to meet Claire and tell her she’s so talented. She would tell me she wanted to be long distance friends with Claire. (Geez, what happened to pen pals!). So after insisting on sending Claire a video of her own, I finally sat down with her and recorded. Now anyone who has seen Claire’s videos, they are so professional and well done. Unfortunately all I have is my iPhone, so it’s not remotely as professional. And, well, okay it’s not all in tune. But that’s not what it was about. My 4 year old was so driven to do this video for a little girl she’s never met! It’s an idea she had all on her own! She had a fun experience and I couldn’t be prouder of my baby girl.
I hope you all enjoy. And if Claire happens to be watching, my daughter loves all of your videos! Thank you for inspiring her to do this! She had a blast!
