As you may have deduced by now, I am a control freak. In many ways, okay all ways, I am schedule driven, planning obsessed and detail oriented. So when an app comes along that feeds into these traits in a positive way, I am thrilled. For those of you who like to or feel you may need a little extra help tracking your caloric intake, MyFitnessPal powered by Under Armor is for you!
I’ve been using MyFitnessPal for 5 years and it’s just become part of my daily life. It isn’t a hassle and I’m not obnoxious about it. As a matter of fact, for the most part, my friends don’t even know I’m using it. It is a wonderful tool for anyone who is into weight loss or weight management. It is also great for someone who, like myself, may need to track the intake of specific nutrition information (i.e., sodium or carbs or fiber). It is extremely user friendly and serves as a great community should you need a little extra support. You can connect with friends, share meal ideas and contribute to an already massive database of food nutritionals. There is also daily blogs containing recipes, work out tips and general healthy living.
I believe that food diaries are very misunderstood. People often believe keeping a food diary should only be done for those who are dieting. However, keeping a food diary can help almost anyone. Besides monitoring your total nutritional landscape, you can also discover if you have food sensitivities or allergies. Perhaps you can find food related triggers to headaches or migraines. Either way, the act of food journaling (with very little difficulty using MyFitnessPal or various other healthy lifestyle apps) can result in large benefits. And if you’re a control freak, it’s also extremely satisfying! Give it a try. You won’t be disappointed!
