When did you get so big?
When was it that you could reach the light switch to turn off the lights for me?
Or climb up to the top of the jungle gym?
When did you stop needing me to cut up your chicken nuggets?
When did you start singing along at bedtime when I would sing Rainbow Connection while we would lie in the dark?
When was it that you let go of my hand for the first time?
Or the first time you cheerfully left my side and ran off with your friends?
When did your scribbles turn into shapes and scenes?
How could I have not noticed how much you’ve grown right before my eyes? I don’t want to blink because I fear I’ll miss something. No matter how much you accomplish, how far you travel, how big you get or how proud that all makes me, you will always be my baby.
Happy Birthday, baby girl!
